Pharmacists from all over the world will meet at an international summit to be held in Istanbul in September. The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) will hold its 69th World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Istanbul on September 3-8, Anatolia news agency reported . Turkey was the host country of another FIP international congress 19 years ago. The main theme of this year's congress will be “Responsibility for Patient Outcomes -- Are you ready?” According to Serif Boyaci, Head of the Auditing Committee of the Turkish Pharmacists Association (TEB), around 5,000 participants from Turkey and from all over the world are expected to attend this year's congress. “This event, considered as the Olympic games of pharmacy, will give pharmacists the chance to meet and exchange views with their colleagues from different parts of the world”, said Boyaci. Founded in 1912, FIP is an international federation of national organizations of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO). Through its 122 member associations and 4,000 individual members, FIP represents and serves almost two million practitioners and scientists throughout the world. (Today’s Zaman)
